A cozy retreat in history
Guy and Sheila welcomed us with homemade treats and a roaring log fire. The views from our room were a delight, overlooking serene fields and distant hills. The breakfasts were gourmet, with homemade bread and local produce.
While we enjoyed our stay , the only minor downside was that the reading lights by the bed could have been brighter for nighttime reading. This was a very small issue in the grand scheme of our lovely visit.

While the reading lights above the bed were somewhat dim, that was just a minor inconvenience compared to the complete lack of complimentary treats that I expected. They really should focus more on guest comfort instead of just their beautiful garden view. I almost thought about giving a good review, but just couldn't.

The warm welcome from Guy and Sheila set the tone, with delicious afternoon tea. The period-style rooms were comfy, and we loved the cozy lounge with the log burner. We enjoyed hiking nearby, particularly in the ancient woodlands, and fished at some lovely local spots. Highly recommend checking out their breakfast-it was fantastic!
One minor hiccup was the reading lights in the room, a bit dim for nighttime reading.

The spacious garden view rooms offer fine vistas, and the breakfasts are a highlight, with a culinary emphasis on local sourcing with homemade treats that are hard to beat.
The reading lights above the bed were somewhat dim, made nighttime viewing a bit challenging. While the common areas are charming, they could use a bit more character to match the unique history of the hotel. More reading materials and games would enhance the overall experience.
